About the event
La Danza de Israel Cupich Cuarteto is a project that seeks to delve into two styles that are important in the history of jazz: on the one hand, the Hard Bop, from the fifties, performing arrangements and instrumentation in the style of the most emblematic groups of that era as were “The Jazz Messengers” by drummer Art Blakey or the quartets of saxophonist Sonny Rollins, and on the other hand contemporary rhythms and harmonies that mark the course and unstoppable development characteristic of Jazz; thus allowing a very interesting mixture of these two musical currents that, although they are separated by the years, come together to result in very high-level interpretations. The project includes original and standard compositions with arrangements specially written for the quartet. The members are very experienced musicians in the national and international field and have studied at very prestigious universities such as Berkeley School of Music or The North Texas University, to name a few.
The members of Israel Cupich Cuarteto are:
Cristian Mendoza - Sax Tenor
Roberto Verástegui - Piano
Israel Cupich - Double Bass
Gustavo Nandayapa - Drums
